According to this article, hackers have created a new program that allows them to cheat in online battles.

Dubbed "The Battle Analyzer," the program intercepts the information the game sends out during battle, allowing the user to see a lot of information that would give them a huge advantage in battle. Everything from the opponent's Pok
émon to what move they will use next is visible. The program is based on code from the "Instacheck" program people also built for Pokémon.

This essentially allows someone to get a free win, as they know exactly what attacks their opponents will use, what stats their Pok
émon will have, and what Pokémon are on the team, and will be able to come up with a perfect counter every single turn.

What sets it apart from Instacheck
is the intent behind the program. While Instacheck was created to allow for fair trades and prevent scammers from stealing Pokémon in trades, the Battle Analyzer is simply a cheating device meant to give an unfair advantage to players.

This doesn't just ruin online battles, though. Official Nintendo tournaments and matches are held online, and winners of these are given points that allow them to qualify for larger tournaments like VGC. With the Battle Analyzer, people will be able to cheat for their points and get into official tournaments over more qualified players.

Fortunately, Nintendo may be aware of the problem. According to the official Global Link website, Nintendo shut down Rating Battles at around the same time the Battle Analyzer was released. Rating Battles are essentially Ranked Matches for Pok
émon X and Y. Their getting shut down means that Nintendo is aware of the adverse effect the Battle Analyzer will have on Rankings. Nintendo may be creating a patch to fix the problem and disable the Battle Analyzer, similar to how quickly they responded to the Lumiose City Freezing Glitch when Pokémon X and Y first came out.

In the meantime, the only way you can be guaranteed to get a fair match is to battle on online simulators like Pok
émon Showdown.
